Principal’s Message – August 5, 2019
It is with great excitement that I welcome you back to this upcoming school year. I hope you had a wonderful summer spending time with family and friends. The staff have been back working in their classrooms, preparing for the arrival of students on August 19th. This is going to be such a great year, and we look forward to seeing all of the families and getting the year started. We Are Muir!
Thursday, August 15th Class Rosters Posted (1-6 grade)
Class lists will be available just outside the main office by entering Muir through the main entrance during our Back to School Night from 4:30-6:30. Kindergarten class rosters will be finalized after kindergarten screening and will be available outside the main office on Friday, August 23rd from 12:00-3:30.
Thursday, August 15th Back to School Night
From 4:30-6:30 we will have an open house at Muir where students can drop off their school supplies, meet their teacher and enjoy a light snack from our PTA. We will also be selling Muir spirit wear and you will have the opportunity to join our Muir PTA. We hope to see all of you there!
Monday, August 19th First Day of School 1-6
Students should arrive between 8:25-8:30 each day and lineup with their teachers. Just as a reminder, the parking lot closes at 8:20 and 2:55 each day for arrival and dismissal. Instruction begins at 8:40 so it is very important that students arrive on time.

Snacks at Muir
In continuing with our policy for the last five years, snacks at Muir will consist of fresh fruits or vegetables. Whether a student has a snack remains a parent/guardian choice. Many students choose to just have lunch which is perfectly fine.
Examples of Fruits and Vegetables:
Apple, Pear, Banana, Grapes, Carrots, Celery, Orange, Broccoli, Melon, etc.
Non-examples of Fruits and Vegetables:
Yogurt, Fruit Cups, Sauces/Dressings, Fruit snacks/Fruit Roll-ups, Candy, Chips, Granola etc.
Busses/Parking Lot – We continue to work with the Hoffman Estates Police Department to determine the safest possible plan for arrival/dismissal. In order to best ensure the safety of our students, the parking lot will be closed to all vehicles other than student busses from 8:20-8:40 a.m. each morning and from 2:55-3:10 p.m. each afternoon. On Wednesdays, our parking lot will be closed from 2:25-2:40 p.m. In order to allow our students the safest path to and from school, it is important to minimize vehicle movement at these times. Parents/guardians are able to pick-up/drop-off their students by walking to our entry and exit doors each day. Please note that only siblings of students in K/1 should be on school grounds at dismissal. If a sibling is picking up a student in grades 2-6, please have them wait at the fence near the parking lot entrance. We appreciate your support as we make student safety our top priority. Please note that each grade is assigned to the door listed below:
- K/1- Door 11
- 2/3-Door 10
- 4-Door 1
- 5-Door 2
- 6-Door 3
